Families can’t do it alone. Nor can educators, politicians or business leaders. For children to achieve their best possible future, it takes a community… working together… each sector contributing their own expertise…trusting each other…while not allowing turf issues to get in the way. It takes a community which understands how enriched it has become by its growing diversity. A child-centered community can only emerge if its members want what is best for every child – just as they do for their own.

Each of Rockland County's sectors will soon describe why being child-centered is in their best interest, which of their programs and policies achieve that end, how they join forces with other sectors, and what they hope to achieve in the future. We will also draw on community building work going on around the country.
