Rockland 21C is a pioneering countywide partnership with children as our priority. Our mission is to ensure the best possible future for every child by building a comprehensive support system that links family, school and community. The bulk of our resources are utilized in supporting and sustaining the growing network of community schools developed by Yale University's Bush Center for Social Policy.
Today, we proudly serve as an example of a successful 21C program, with Family Resource Center programs operating in more than 40 school buildings throughout the County. We have the distinction of being the first organization in the nation to provide a countywide model for school-based or school-linked initiatives.
Rockland 21C is comprised of Rockland's eight school districts, Rockland BOCES, early education and childcare centers, after-school programs, youth development and recreation programs, teachers' centers, colleges, government, and business leaders, as well as many public and private agencies including: social service organizations, health and mental health organizations, law enforcement, faith communities, and libraries.
Side by side with Rockland school staff, parents, public officials, and leaders from other sectors, Rockland 21C brings resources, best practices, and innovative solutions to our partners. Some of the ways we do this is by:
Providing professional development opportunities and identifying and suggesting new strategies and models to Family Resource Center (FRC)coordinators, school staff, and Rockland leaders.
Providing resources and supports as schools assess their health environments and make healthy sustainable changes.
Serving as a "go to" organization for community partners who wish to share information with schools.
Connecting schools and the community to national models that support the whole child and are proven to work.
Promoting a countywide commitment to children and families.
